Bird Photography on a Budget

posted Nov 10, 2011, 5:38 AM by Hawk Counter   [ updated Jun 14, 2017, 5:51 PM by Web master ]

"Bird Photography on a Budget" by Jerry Jourdan will take place Saturday, November 12th at 7:00PM at the Marshlands Museum at Lake Erie Metropark. The presentation is free of charge, but guests must have a vehicle permit to enter the Metropark.

Jerry Jourdan is a Senior Research Microscopist for the Analytical North America Group at BASF Corporation in Wyandotte, MI. When he is not imaging on a microscopic scale he is out photographing birds in a more traditional, macroscopic scale.

His passion is bird photography. Like most avid birders unable to afford 'the big glass' he has been forced to photograph birds 'on the cheap'. In 2003 he discovered the art of 'digiscoping' or photographing birds through a spotting scope with a point and shoot camera. Since then he has developed the technique to produce stunning results. His photos have appeared in such publications as Birder's World, WildBird Magazine, and Birding. He is also an active blogger and his photos can be seen at http://jerryjourdan.blogspot.com

Plan to join us for his presentation "Bird Photography on a Budget" and see how to turn a ho-hum image into a vibrant work of art!
